Archbishop of Canterbury Apologizes
Archbishop
of Canterbury Apologizes for Divestment - George Conger
Archbishop of
Canterbury Rowan Williams wrote to British Chief Rabbi Jonathan Sacks on Feb. 10
to apologize for the Church of England's vote last week to divest from companies
whose products are used by the Israeli government in the territories. Williams
expressed his "deep regret" for the "deep distress" caused by the vote, and said
the church has been misunderstood and had "not resolved to disinvest." Williams
acknowledged that the timing of the Synod vote was "unfortunate," following
closely upon the Hamas electoral victory, but stated that the church had
"emphatically not" recommended a boycott or compromised its "commitment to
oppose any form of anti-Semitism at home or abroad." (Jerusalem Post)

Presbyterian
Groups Call for End to Divestment Policy
Five regional bodies in the
Presbyterian Church (USA) are calling for a modification or end to the church's
attempt to pull investments from companies working in Israel. The moves come
almost two years after the Louisville-based denomination started a process of
selectively divesting in multinational corporations operating in Israel.

The Jew hating, Hizbollah loving World Council of Churches writes "A Letter to Condi Rice " here.....
On a far larger scale, hasty isolation of a government that includes Hamas over aspects of the movements past will further exacerbate the Wests already deeply scarred relations with the people of the Muslim world. At worst, isolation and stigmatisation become a self-fulfilling prophecy that greater political and cultural conflict lie ahead. Current incidentsfuelled by exclusionist perceptions on both sidesmake this painfully clear.

"Archbishop" Rowan Williams talks out of both sides of his mouth. He's a Class I politician. For him, keeping everyone happy is his top priority, no matter what. He's a lot like Bill Clinton.
I'm glad I'm not part of the Anglican Communion.
