Leftist Jews urged Rice's 'tough line'
JERUSALEM - Far left-leaning American Jewish organizations urged U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to pressure Israel during her brokering this week of a deal that for the first time hands to the Palestinians final control of the Gaza border, telling Rice her tough line against Israel will win her American Jewish support.
Rice extended her stay in Jerusalem to push through the deal on the Rafah crossing between Egypt and Gaza that restricts Israel to monitor the area by camera, calls for a European presence at the border station, and gives the Palestinians final veto power on all vehicles and persons entering Gaza.
The deal was blasted by Israel's military establishment in urgent messages sent to Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's office. Hat tip: Dr. Nancy

Spielberg lied.
But not as much as he and admittedly anti-Israel scriptwriter Tony Kushner lied in this two-and-a-half-hour-plus celluloid fairy tale. Like the book on which it’s based, Munich is long, boring, and filled with fakery.
Spielberg’s “Black September” terrorist group is named after the Munich terrorists, who murdered the Israeli athletes in September. The real-life “Black September” is so named after Jordan’s massacre of 10,000 Palestinians in September 1970 – causing many Jordanian Palestinians to flee for safety in the West Bank and Israel.
Real-life Palestinians in 1973 beat to death U.S. diplomats, like Cleo Noel and George Curtis Moore in the Sudan, with Yasser Arafat personally giving the orders. (They were tortured to death and beaten so badly, authorities could not tell which of the two was black and which was white.)
Spielberg’s Palestinian terrorists have cute, young, innocent, piano-playing daughters who will be fatherless. But he never shows the cute, young daughters of the Israeli athletes who were made fatherless – and whose fathers, unlike the Palestinian terrorists, were innocent victims with no choice in the matter.
Spielberg’s Mossad agents say bigoted things like, “The only blood that matters to me is Jewish blood,” and go around killing innocent people at whim. The real-life Mossad agents who hunted the Munich terrorists went to great pains to avoid killing innocents (whether or not they were Jewish), a reason it took so many years and financial resources to get all but one of them. (Jamil Al-Gashey lives safely under the protection of the terror-state Syria.) In real-life, they killed only one innocent man whom they mistakenly believed to be a terrorist – a Moroccan waiter in Norway – for which those Mossad agents responsible were tried, convicted, and imprisoned, something that does not happen in the Spielberg version of events. Spielberg’s Mossad agents complain that Israel has no death penalty, so killing the terrorists violates Israeli law. Real-life Israel does have a death penalty for Nazi war criminals, like Eichmann, and recognized that the Munich terrorists were equally worthy.
Spielberg’s Mossad agents cry and brood a lot, unsure of themselves and why they are pursuing terrorists. Been there, seen that before – in the left-wing Israeli film Walk on Water. But it bears little resemblance to the real Mossad agents who hunted the terrorists. They were not metrosexual, sensitive guys – as badly as Spielberg and Kushner would like them to be. Like Golda Meir, they could not have been more certain of the just purpose of their mission.
Then, there is something I haven’t read in other critics’ accounts of Munich – something that made me sick to my stomach. Are the lives of the innocent Israeli athletes so worthless that the scenes in which they are murdered by Palestinian terrorists are interspersed with the self-doubting Mossad agent having sex? Thanks for cheapening these murdered athletes’ lives, Spielberg.
What can you expect from the man who said his meeting with Fidel Castro “was the eight most important hours of my life”?
Indeed. Never again will Spielberg get a shekel, half penny, plug nickel from me. It never dawned on me that Spielberg was glorifying a nazi, war profiteering Schindler. But that is what he did. Schindler was an unapologetic war profiteer, getting rich off Jewish slaves. If he had a crisis of conscience at the end of the war when the allies victory was painfully clear, one can only guess but if anyone deserved an homage it was Raoul Wallenberg - Atlas.
UPDATE December 29th I wish to clarify something here. If I implied that Oskar Schindler was not worthy of the love, respect,and admiration of the world let me stand corrected.
Oskar Schindler was a great man. A righteous gentile. He earned the title through his unselfish, heroic acts and must be remembered as such. Yes, a righteous man. Deserving of his place at Yad Vashem and in the hearts and souls of every Jew that lives and survived. It was Speileberg's motives I questioned, not Oskar Schindler's.
Yad Vashem is the Israel Holocaust Museum and Center. It is the organization responsible for bestowing the honor, "Righteous Gentile". In a world where clowns, frauds and monsters can receive the Nobel Peace Prize, Yad Vashem is meticulous about researching candidates for the title Righteous Gentile. The decision to bestow that title is, to my mind, irrefutable proof of a person's status as moral hero. Yad Vashem awarded the title to Schindler in 1967 and confirmed it and extended it to his wife in 1993.
When I reviewed the Yad Vashem site I learned things I hadn't known about Schindler. For example:
1. In 1943 Schindler worked as a secret operative of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee and "undertook a highly risky journey to Budapest, where he met with two representatives of Hungarian Jewry. He reported to them about the desperate plight of the Jews in Poland and discussed possible ways of relief.";
2. Schindler was arrested and interrogated numerous times by the Gestapo but he did not stop his activities; and,
3. Schindler arranged the only recorded case where Jews (300 women) were saved and released after having been shipped to a death camp.
If Schindler had only been self-interested he would have avoided antagonizing the Gestapo and hoarded his money. He could then have saved his own skin at the conclusion of the war by arranging passage to South America as did so many other Nazis. Instead Schindler (a man with an apparently money-hungry nature) beggared himself to save Jews. He risked his life by breaking almost every rule of a vicious dictatorship. His activities were so unprecedented for a German that after the war he was an outcast from and subject to threats and harassment by German emigree colonies. Hat tip MarcH
