UPDATE: Great dispatch from a soldier over at Partamian Report........read it all
Just in time for my next Iraq update is the general election scheduled for 15 December. We have been diligently preparing for this event since mid-November and I am looking forward to the results. As some of you might remember, My battalion had 10 polling sites within our area of operations and 3 in my company sector. Well, thanks to the results we experienced from the last election, we have added 2 more polling sites in my company AO. That really does not affect my platoon, the Blacksheep, because we have draw the Division Ready Reserve Force (DRRF) duty again. My platoon is on stand-by to react to any major events in the Division area of operations and we are stoked! The last voting session was a huge success last time and we are hoping for the same results. Also, since we are the DRRF, I have the unique advantage of observing all of the events in the area without a major concern for close in tactical operation (unless we are called out). The locals that I have spoken with over the last few weeks are all saying that they will be participating in the upcoming election. This should all prove to be very interesting.

Surprise Guest at Iraqi Elections
Senator Joseph "We're doomed in Iraq" Biden joined the party today in Hillah.
Sens. Joseph Biden, D-Del.; Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.; Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga.; and Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., accompanied US Iraqi Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad to the city of Hillah, about 60 miles south of Baghdad.

Senator Joseph Biden (D-DE) showed up in Iraq today to witness the country's historic parliamentary elections. Senator Biden has not always been a strong supporter of the Administration on the Iraq War. And, Biden has come under fire at various times for his statements on Iraq. In August he was attacked by former generals for his bogus claims on the number of trained forces in the Iraqi military:
Just six months ago Biden attacked Bush on the Adminstration's plan for Iraq in his first campaign speech for the '08 election:Retired General Barry McCaffrey said Sunday that claims by Sen. Joseph Biden that U.S. forces in Iraq have trained just 3,000 Iraqi troops to fight without U.S. help are flat out wrong.
Asked about Biden's contention, Gen. McCaffrey told NBC's "Meet the Press" that the actual number of self-sufficient Iraqi troops was far higher.
"My judgment is today there are probably 110 battalions fielded, probably 36 of them are capable of taking a lead in active operations." Each Iraqi battalion contains 600 to 700 troops, McCaffrey said, putting the full number of self sufficient Iraqi troops at at least 21,600 - more than seven times what Biden claimed.
"That's a huge force and it's going to start to make a difference," he added, explaining that he based his information on personal discussions with "General George Casey in country and Dave Petraeus, a guy who's actually in charge of trying to build the Iraqi security forces."
Get over to Gateway Pundit now and read it all...............Hat tip: Veritas
The left is not taking this well at all, they are only happy when the streets are flowing with blood not gold

Do you think Cindy Sheehan will whine that the elections are distracting people from her publicity?

That pic totally doesn't jive with what I heard Biden say this morning on the Laura Ingraham show.
The rat bastard is a Kerry opportunist of the worst kind.

Done, props to Iraqis, over 80 percent turnout, in Tikrit. What's the deal Atlas, we get live media feeds from the execution of a psychopath, and yet nothing of the sort from the media. I'm a little disgusted.

Biden, the forever plagiarist.

Sen. Biden does the hand jive.. What else is new. He's ready to take credit for the elections, despite the fact that he was one of the louder naysayers for the whole Iraq operation...

Congrats on Second Atlas!!
I think there was another election somewhere today but it must not have been of much importance since the MSM didn't feel any need to cover it.
