Zarqawi? Champagne in Hand? Awaiting Word on the Witch's Death
Ding Ding the Pr*ck is dead? Iraq the Model thinks so;
Zarqawi probably killed!
According to these two sources, Iraqi and US military forces in Mosul think that Zarqawi, al-Qaeda leader in Iraq was possibly killed in a raid on a house where members of al-Qaeda were holding a meeting.
Al-Mada paper said that terrorists hiding in a house fired back at American and Iraqi troops that were surrounding the house in a battle that lasted from dawn to noon on Saturday (Jerusalem Post said it was Sunday)`after receiving intelligence about a meeting for senior al-Qaeda members.
Hat tip: Asher!
Now all those pronouncements of hate and disownesrhip from his family in Jordan earlier today makes sense................full page ads disowning Zarqawi. Isn't the timing a little convenient? Maybe la familia gave him up, eh?

Observations from my partner in crime, Confederate Yankee
UPDATE II: The US already has a sample of his DNA, for matching purposes. Debka is reporting that the 8 bodies are burned black and unrecognizable as is.
UPDATE November 21: Still just a rumor, but a louder and slightly more insistent one this time around. More from alcibiades here
UPDATE: November 22nd: Still waiting on the DNA. Fingers, legs, and eyes crossed.
UPDATE: November 26th: Still waiting on the DNA but we do know that Top Zarqawi aide killed

Oh my that would be horrible. Who will we negotiate the pull out from Iraq with if Abbu is toast?
(I'm kidding for gods sake!)

If he offed himself, does he still get the 72 raisins? Like Eva Braun, I wonder if his faithful goat went down with him?
Posted by: Ed Poinsett | Sunday, November 20, 2005 at 06:18 PM
Ed: ROTFL. Nope. He gets 72 gerbils. Let's hope this is true. If so, just more evidence of why we need to "bring the troops home" right now.

I suspect that the report is true. Remember the dud bomber in Ammon was closely linked to the Z-scum. Jordan has had a few days to question her. No torture of course. They fought like they were protecting high value target.

If ol' Zarq is dead that only leaves about a billion more to go.
Posted by: Angel Elf | Sunday, November 20, 2005 at 07:22 PM
Yeh, Angel Elf, the goal is to kill all them thar Mooslems.
Why is it that any possible good news from Iraq seems to make lefties angry? Could it be that Bush is right and you're WRONG? Could it be that we're WINNING and your "freedom fighter" pals who want to restore a vicious dictatorship or an Islamic state under Sharia law, just so we don't prevail, are LOSING? Could it be that you underestimated the people of the middle east and their ability to know the difference between democracy and tyranny?
I'm just askin'.

P.S. to Angel Elf:
I hope I didn't misunderstand your post. I thought you were implying that the remaining billion Muslims all hate us.
Posted by: Conservatus M | Sunday, November 20, 2005 at 07:38 PM
Well, I am sad to wish death on anyone but ... if we can't bring him to justice ... a painful and long justice... then I hope this is true for the sake of many more innocent lives.

I noticed Monkyboy has no comment on this. He's probably try to work out a comment that conveys that Zarqawi really wasn't all that bad just misunderstood, he supports the troops in this illegal war, somehow this will benefit Halibuton, this was a much better fate for him than ending up in one of our prisons, etc. etc.
Posted by: lowandslow | Sunday, November 20, 2005 at 10:05 PM
Lowandslow - monkey doesn't need to work out anything. Just go to google news, and there is a story about about how Z was tortured in prison, poor baby. Leave it to the Seattle PI, to sob for a mass murderer.

Wow. M boy is attacked and he hasn't even posted in this thread! Is this payback
l and s?
Posted by: wrapper | Sunday, November 20, 2005 at 10:57 PM
Payback? No, it's just that guys like you and him feel the need to sh*t on every thread.
Posted by: lowandslow | Sunday, November 20, 2005 at 11:02 PM
Here's a no-brainer prediction: If this report turns out to be true, the media will report that Zarqawi's death is no big deal, and that another equally heinous Al Qaida operative will soon take his place. Any doubters? I suspect they'd predict the same thing if Bin Ladin met his demise.

I shit on every thread? You know, I really don't see that. I don't agree with the majority opinion around here and that's gotten me a lot more insults than engagement, but I've mostly shrugged that stuff off.
If you're only interested in a choir, maybe you can get me banned.
Posted by: wrapper | Sunday, November 20, 2005 at 11:21 PM
Well, you have to understand lowandslow, if true, this could be a major foot in mouth moment for the left -- Zarqawi getting atomized right after the Democrats demand we cut and run.
Let me guess, if Zarq really is dead, the NYT will come out with an article saying it leaves a power vacuum that could result in even MORE terrorism and violence, the ACLU and the Red Cross will wonder why he wasn't taken prisoner rather than killed, and Katrina Van Den Hole will unblinkingly declare the war to be a miserable failure nothwithstanding Zarqawi's death -- without once moving her lips.

So you're a moby not a troll wrapper. Still really nothing to be proud of.
Posted by: lowandslow | Sunday, November 20, 2005 at 11:41 PM
Moby? I never heard of that term before.
At any rate, I'm a troll if I disagree? That seems a bit closed minded. Should I go away?

Wouldn't want to ban anybody's prattle. I think a Randian would want these things fleshed out to show just how vacuous left wing dogma really is.
What say you, Atlas?
Posted by: Conservatus M | Monday, November 21, 2005 at 12:04 AM
Oh for chr*st sake wrapper, what are you, twelve?
Posted by: lowandslow | Monday, November 21, 2005 at 12:08 AM
Why would a Randian be an enthusiastic supporter of nation building?
Posted by: wrapper | Monday, November 21, 2005 at 12:10 AM
Several months ago I reported in my blog about Zarqawi's death. It was a rumour I picked up on, at an Iraqi blog. This rumour comes along annually.
What is funny to me, is that liberals use Pat Pat Buchanan type isolationist type arguments, against the occupation. The neoconservatives, atleast have vision, and idealism.
My family descends from the same family as Trotsky. Maybe that is why I'm a lefty, who flirts around neocons like Hitchens.

The facts are we don’t know if he is dead. Confirmation has not come from this, but the type of battle and the Arab press imply that he was probably the target of this assault.
Now, in light of the Jordan fiasco and rogue missions on mosques recently in Iraq indicate he has probably become less valuable than he once was to his sadistic masters. He also threatened an Islamic head of state. Nothing will bring your whereabouts to the light of day faster than threatening an Islamic head of state in the name of jihad. The tool is a marked man from inside Islam at this point. Whether it was he in this building or not he is a very marked man. The bombings in Jordan were too much to be neglected by those that hide him. There is also $25 million to gain from killing this bastard. If it was not now, it will be soon. Praise Allah, this bastard will soon come down…..

The fact that Zarqawi's family and tribe have renounced him certainly suggests that it is now open season and that someone will give (or has given) him up.
But, I just wish we would stop vaporizing the people we are going after. Once we have someone surrounded, we should make every effort to catch them alive, and make them do the whole perp walk thing. No martyrs, just American justice.

tv - They blew themselves up! You know, with C4 and the like.
Have no doubt that our guys try to get them alive, they are a font of intelligence once they start singing.

tv, you brought up an interesting point. Islam defines martyrdom in a much different way than Judaism or Christianity. Dying in war in Islam you become a martyr. Now if Zarqawi, bin Laden or some other high ranking al-Qaeda Joker gets captured ALIVE, that would be the worst thing that could happen to an Islamic "warrior". In the eyes of Islam, if warrior is captured alive in battle or other circumstances, it will confuse and/or de-moralize other warriors.
The other Islamic warriors will his Islam (his submission to Allah and the law of Mohammed) was not good enough because the warrior was not blessed with martyrdom.
Capturing Islamists alive destroys the credibility of these "warriors".
