Pakistan Earthquake kills 18,000 Refuses Israel Aid
Unbelievable, no? Thousands dead ,dying, 42,000 hurt and Pakistan refuses Israeli aid. G-d forgive them. Their hatred of the Jews knows no moral ground. What is wrong with these people?
Despite a very public warming of Israeli-Pakistani ties over the last two months, things have still not heated up enough for Islamabad to publicly accept humanitarian aid from the Jewish state.
Even though Pakistani President Pervez Musharaf called for international assistance to help his country deal with the massive earthquake that hit his country Saturday, Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom told the cabinet Sunday that Israel's offer of humanitarian aid to both Pakistan and India has as of yet gone unanswered
Update: Death toll at 20,000
''The situation is very bad. Surgeries are being conducted on soccer fields. There are not enough doctors.''
-- Ozgur Bozoglu, member of a Turkish search-and-rescue team
Update: The UN speaks of the enormous needs in Pakistan but nothing of Pakistan's refusal of Israeli aid;
UN says "awesome" needs in Pakistan quake relief
AFP via Yahoo! News Sun, 09 Oct 2005 9:35 AM PDT
A veteran UN relief expert said there were massive needs in housing, health and water in the worst hit areas of Pakistan and Pakistani-held Kashmir after a devastating earthquake.

this might sound incredibly cold, but why did Israel even offer aid to them. They're a sworn enemy. Screw them.

MM,
Maybe they saw an opening, and optimistically offered?

I agree with PG: one Israeli doctor loses one patient on the operating table, and all hell would break loose. I feel very bad for the folks caught in this, but with the behavior of their leaders, they will just have to fend for themselves.

Muslims wont mind losing both eyes to see Israel one eye blinded. Israel is a generous country despite being hated. I live in Guatemala, Central America, where we are now having a bad time dealing with all the landslides that hurricane Stan caused this week. This is a country that simply cannot handle the situation by itself, and this is a country that does not hate Israel, maybe they can could give all that help to us, it will be apreciated. I also want to say thank you to the US, you have a very small military mission here but are using their Black Hawks to evacuate people from isolated areas and also to fly provisions. I just can say thank you and God bless America.

Please check your facts before posting information. Pakistan has accepted the aid from Israel. It was a tremendously generous offer from Israel, and a good decision on the part of the Pakistani government. We can only hope this is a sign of changing times and tides. But it will be difficult for any progress to be made, as long as there are hate mongers like your blog around on both sides of issues, to poison the minds of people. I wonder if your blog had any comments to make when Bush turned down Cuba's offer to help after Katrina?
