Bill Clinton and Me
He is quite the charmer.................now I know how he got so far.
He is the Master.......down home, folksy, disarming...........all that.
Clearly obsessed with amending his legacy. Did not bad mouth Bush, got weepy on Rwanda...........positioning himself as a the self deprecating great statesman.
Playing to an audience of affluent New York Liberals.............honestly? He was likable.
That is what so unnerved me.............anyway have a headache will elaborate further later
UPDATE: September 21
Re: Comments
Look animals, my position on Clinton is clear. He destroyed this country. Bad dah bing. Bah dah boom.
Having met him in person I wanted readers to understand the brilliant mysterious mask evil can wear..
If you are unfamiliar with my take on Clinton and his legacy - see right side bar - Fifth column.
Even better a couple of readers recommend Alamo Girl.
It's an amazing site chronicling Clinton's decimation of a great America. She sheds light on the downside of this powerful man with many surrogates.
UPDATE 6:50PM
Surprised it took this long...
BEIJING - A rubber company in China has begun marketing condoms under the brand names Clinton and Lewinsky, apparently seeking to exploit the White House affair that led to the impeachment of America's 42nd president. Spokesman Liu Wenhua of the Guangzhou Rubber Group said the company was handing out 100,000 free Clinton and Lewinsky condoms as part of a promotion to raise consumer awareness of its new products.
I wonder if his picture's on them?
He said that after the promotion ends, the Clinton condoms will go on sale in southern China for 29.8 Yuan ($3.72) for a box of 12, while the Lewinsky model will be priced at 18.8 Yuan ($2.35) for the same quantity."The Clinton condom will be the top of our line," he said. "The Lewinsky condom is not quite as good."
He important man. She cheap slut.

He looks like W.C. Fields!

Umm, wasn't Rwanda going on during Mr. Clinton's Presidency? What did he do about it then?
If he was weeping about having done nothing, then I apologize for my assumption.

Caption contest?
"Yes, Pamela, I knew Monica Lewinsky, and you're no Monica Lewinsky."

Merovign- He sent Jesse Jackson who managed to make things worse. You can read about it in Kenneth Timmerman's book about JJ's race pimping entitled, Shakedown.

My wife, who never voted for him, met him at Renaissance Weekend a few years back and says the same thing. By all accounts, he would definitely be tremendously interesting to hang with. Almost certainly more interesting than the current president, who I did vote for twice.

I watched Clinton closely after he was elected. My estimate of the man was that he was enormously successful at relating to people and bringing them over to his position... but his position was always immediate self-gratification, and that's why a lot of things went wrong.
But when they went wrong, he sat down with people in positions of power and convinced them it wasn't his fault, and it would work.
It simply isn't possible to catalogue all of the bad decisions, you see some of them on the right-hand side of this page. But to a lot of people, he came out of it smelling like roses. Some of it was party loyalty, some of it was personal influence, some of it was peer pressure.
But when I run down the list with my liberal friends (too few these days), it makes them go "hmmm."
A few of the biggies:
The "blocking" of vast areas of coal-mining in Utah. As a result, a large international coal firm (ADECO) owns a large chunk of the remaining production of "compliance coal", since they own the producing Indonesian coal mines and the non-producing Wyoming mines. Oh, and they share ownership with the Chinese Military.
The attempt to mandate tungsten-core bullets for US military AND civilian ammunition was apparently purely prompted by bribes from Marc Rich and Chinese military backers, as China is the far-and-away largest producer of Tungsten and the only one who could meet the demand... and the environmental argument was dropped when significant opposition was met on economic and effectiveness grounds, not to mention the fact that military ammunition supplies would be dependant on a nation often seen as an adversary.
The regular IRS investigations of political opponents was not much of a story during the Clinton Presidency, though it did happen. I'm not hearing much about it these days, has Bush ordered the IRS to investigate his political opponents and critics?
I guess I'm sayin' just remember who this guy is, no matter how charming.
As to the economic legacy, that's a crock. Who started the economic climb before Clinton took office? Who was responsible for the economic decline that started before he left office?
Too many people to count, that's who.
I'm ranting. Look at me, see what I'm doing? Ranting. :) I should be writing a book, not ranting!

But it is!
"...She [alamo-girl.com] has been active and dillegent [sic] in domcumenting [sic] and chronicling the downside legacy of the Clinton Presidency for several years, a Presidency that may be remembered as the most corrupt, deceitful and traitorous administration in the history of the United States of America."

Alamo-Girl has done an amazing amount of work there. Someday when I have Free Time I'll ask her if she needs help setting up a site-search function and perhaps reorganizing the information - there is a staggering amount of it there. I spent a little while poking around but it's kind of overwhelming.
I think a collapsing explorer-style menu would help, but might be slow-ish and incompatible-ish.

It's not called being "likeable" - it's called acting. The clown is a con man and you bought it.

Ayn-Randite, Zionist, liberal-basher -- is there a safer recipe for becoming a moron beyond redemption?
Get a brain, lady. You know, they sell cow brains in supermarkets. Have you considered that option?

That bastard balanced the budget, presided over a record-breaking economic boom and failed to launch an unwinnable war based on lies! I'm amazed any of us were still alive after he got done with us.
Oh, and he was intelligent and wasn't an alcoholic. What were we thinking? I'm glad we've remedied that.

Transcript: President Clinton explains Iraq strike
CLINTON: Good evening.
Earlier today, I ordered America's armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces. Their mission is to attack Iraq's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors.
Their purpose is to protect the national interest of the United States, and indeed the interests of people throughout the Middle East and around the world.
Saddam Hussein must not be allowed to threaten his neighbors or the world with nuclear arms, poison gas or biological weapons.
I want to explain why I have decided, with the unanimous recommendation of my national security team, to use force in Iraq; why we have acted now; and what we aim to accomplish.
Read the whole thing, but if you don't have the time, the clincher is on point:
" Heavy as they are, the costs of action must be weighed against the price of inaction. If Saddam defies the world and we fail to respond, we will face a far greater threat in the future. Saddam will strike again at his neighbors. He will make war on his own people.
And mark my words, he will develop weapons of mass destruction. He will deploy them, and he will use them.
Because we're acting today, it is less likely that we will face these dangers in the future."

Your pithy observations, Mencken-like wit and Aristotelian reasoning overwhelm us all, Auslander! I'm sold: I becoming a serf to the State right now! Ah, the good old Ad Hominem (or in this case "Ad Feminem"--very Feminem!") attack: where would the Left be without it? Certainly not relying on logic, that's for sure.

I posted Clinton's speech for the junior high kids, Auslander, Jay, and Stupidetc. as they were either in diapers or high during Clinton's terms. BTW, can't forget Clinton's "hausfrau" weighing in too!
"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological
weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program.
He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."

WTF?
What I do find remarkable is if the writer/blogger is a woman, you always resort to some lame sexual stupidity.
It grieves me that the No Child Left Behind act does not cover grown men acting like 2 year olds.
I AM DELETING OBSCENE POSTS EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY.

The serpent in the Garden of Eden was supposed to be the most suave and beautiful creature in the garden.
The devil himself was the most attractive angel in God's kingdom.
Down deep behind that polished veneer and smooth talk beats the heart of one who puts himself on a pedistal, at least in his mind, as being higher than God Himself.
Those trapped by that deceptive facade end up destroyed. Many of those caught in the traps of such men are left ruined for the rest of their lives.
Just as Atlas correctly summarized, as he has left America ruined for eternity, with the lose of so many innocent people on 9/11.
I attribute their horrible deaths and the many children without moms and dads, to this suave and smooth devil, Bill Clinton.

Seems to be a problem with the comment posting process. After clicking "POST" the comment does not appear. So, you rewrite the comment, post it and it too does not appear.
Return to the comment section later, and both comments appeared some time later.
Kind of a bummer as both comments are alike.
Posted by: RG | Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at 08:19 PM
RG, there is no problrm. I am moderating the comments (reviewing before they appear). I had to do this. There was a post on a barbaric obscene blog about me and the comments they began posting here were disgusting and pornographic.
I don't mind a good argument but this was beyond the pale. Instead of deleting all of the obscenities and vile anti-semitism, I am reviewing all comments first.
I will post all comments as long as they are void of obscenities.

Clinton was charmimg, hehe, of course. A cutie like you would hit all his buttons. What will be remarkable is when he gets old and doesn't respond to a trigger like you.
