My new Middle Eastern corespondent (how funny am I?) Mark from Qatar, MIQ for short, has been living in the Middle East for 6 years now (Bahrain/Qatar) working in IT for a US Defense contractor) and has been subject to every argument and “explanation” [to suicide bombings, Radical Islam etc] on the planet.

"Just my two cents worth; the Arab states will NEVER accept Israel and will never allow a free Palestinian state to develop. Their (Arab dictatorships) existence depends on Jew hatred, the “dream” (never realized of course) of a Palestinian “homeland” and blaming the US for ever problem in between." [SHOCKA- Atlas]

I got a million stories but I’ll share this one before I leave for Djibouti this week (Horn of Africa, we have a small Marine Corp base there )
My neighbor in Bahrain (I am now in Qatar) worked at the US Embassy there, in the Office of Military Cooperation. He was a senior Air Force officer, couldn't’t stand the state department. October of 2003 they have a Halloween trick or treat party for the staff’s kids. Two Bahraini female employees show dressed as Palestinian suicide bombers, replete with fake guns and explosives belts.
Now, as an American I can even bring a bottle of water (literally) into the Embassy, much less a fake gun or bomb. But here they were to the horror of my neighbor and his military coworkers. ! A bunch of employees asked the Ambassador to throw them out and he dismissed their complaints as silly. The tragic part is a day or two before there was a suicide bomb attack in Israel………..
I still shake my head in disbelief when I recall this story. My neighbor also told me that the two Bahraini employees had anti-Bush and anti-American posters up on their office walls in the US Embassy for months before the Ambassador finally made them take them down due to the numerous complaints.
My neighbor said it best “Imagine the international incident if I showed up the party dressed as an IDF Soldier”
Hey Mark, imagine the international incident if Barbie dressed as an IDF soldier, eh - Atlas
