Felt was just an angry bureaucrat trying to put pressure on his superiors so he could get the top job. If his intentions had been truly noble, he would have taken his concerns to Congress or to the Grand Jury.
Question: was Felt an attorney? Maybe this is irrelevant. I am not an expert on Watergate and Deep Throat, but the recent commentaries suggest that Woodward and Bernstein were given grand jury materials. That is illegal. I use to be a prosecutor (for a brief stint) and leaking grand jury material to the public is a MAJOR wrong!
One of my conservative friends is of the opinion that Nixon got what he deserved; if his administration committed crimes, it should have been punished. However, Nixon's actions were consistant with those of all of his predecessors during 20th Century. The liberals changed the rules when they went after Nixon, and we are still paying the price.
If only Kennedy had not stolen the 1960 election....sigh.

It was never even suggested that Nixon had anything to do with the Watergate break-in itself. However the coverup was worse than the Lewinsky, er the Clinton Affair. But it makes me wonder why it's coming up now. If it's the LLL media spin on election politics then I refer all to alamo-girl for an in depth look at the high treason, high crimes, abuse of power, criminal enterprise, obsrtruction, and breach of trust et al of the Clintons'.
