Woo Hoo! Our girl Claudia, who (practically) singlehandedly, exposed all those gruesome Oil for Food facts gets annointed with the GREAT ONE'S Blessing and honor. I miss you so Eric, there will never be anyone like you.
Congratulations to columnist Claudia Rosett, who last night received the Eric Breindel Award for Excellence in Journalism for her work on the U.N. Oil for Food scandal. The New York Post reports that "the award, named for the late Post columnist and editor, was presented at a ceremony hosted by News Corp. Chairman Rupert Murdoch on the eve of what would have been Breindel's 50th birthday":
Rosett praised a column Breindel wrote in February 1998, just a month before his death, in which he warned that U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan was appeasing Saddam Hussein in negotiations with the Iraqi dictator.
Breindel warned that Annan's negotiations with Saddam would end U.N. Weapons inspections, "which is exactly what happened," she said.
Rosett's work also appears in the New York Sun, which tips its hat to her in an editorial today.
Atlas salutes Claudia Rosett for her courage, fortitude, brilliance and brass balls . I love that in a woman, don't you?
