This is treason. I have been thorugh this kind of hurt before. Not from losing a loved one but from see my countrymen stand against what I had done, answered the call of my country as taught throughout my life, only to find there were those who mocked my efforts , who cast a stain on camrades who died or left behind parts of their bodies to a nobler cause.
What the troops who came to bid Cpl. French goodbye, all those you came to honor her will never forget are those vile cowards and jokers who laughed and mocked them. It is seared into them though they will probably never talk about it. Many will work it out, some never will.
A century ago, those roadkill would have been tested in their sense of purpose by an avenging crowd and was there a brave man among them, he would have become known. Now, they cower behind the very authority they seek to destroy and cast their slogans and thrust their gestures.
There are none more noble than Cpl. Carrie French. None more wanted that she should have lived.
